The Russian Sergey Kovalev was chosen as the Boxer of the month by the World Boxing Association, after defeating unified champion Bernard Hopkins.

Kovalev faced the legendary U.S. former champion on November 8, 2014, in Atlantic City, and won by decision the light heavyweight WBA and IBF titles. The Russian was already WBO champion.

The mention of the month was given to the Jamaican Nicholas Walters, who, on October 18, 2014, in Carson California, defeated Nonito Donaire, in his first featherweight title defense.
