Venezuelan Leonardo Sanchez retained his national welterweight title last Saturday in Caracas, Venezuela, with a ninth round technical knockout win over compatriot Simon Gonzalez.

Sanchez made the first defense of his title against a highly motivated opponent who put up a war in the main fight of the evening organized by Morón Promotions. However, the champion took out his tools and was able to get a victory that allows him to keep his belt.

Several talented Venezuelan boxers participated in the event, such as the several times world title challenger, Yainireth Altuve, who defeated Kairuan Montenegro by technical knockout in a light flyweight fight.

Featherweight fighter José “Cañón” Aray defeated Ángel Barreto by unanimous decision, while Gilbert González defeated Luis Golindano in a very close fight in the light flyweight division
