American José Benavidez managed to dethrone Mauricio Herrera and win by decision the World Boxing Association interim super lightweight 140-pound title in Las Vegas.
A fight that was a give and take all through the 12 rounds, and showed Benavidez making the necessary adjustments to win in the fight. “El Maestro” Herrera never ceased to seek the fight trying to retain his belt.
However, the judges gave the decision to the challenger Benavidez, 116-112, 116-112, 117-111 to become the new WBA champion.
