The last day of the seventh edition of the Gilberto Mendoza Festival took place on Thursday at the Pedro “Rockero” Alcazar Gym, in Curundu, with the presence of more than a dozen amateur fighters from the country.

The event was broadcast live through the official YouTube channel of the World Boxing Association and showed great Panamanian talents in the ring in honor of the emeritus president of the pioneer organization.

It was the third and last phase of this Festival that began in Turmero, Venezuela on March 11 and had a second part on March 24 and 25 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Panama was chosen for the closing ceremony because of the closeness Mendoza always had with this country and because of the warm welcome given to the WBA for many years.

The balance of the event has been very positive and the organization is already working to innovate in its eighth edition, to be held in 2024 and in which it is expected to continue integrating youth and honoring Mr. Mendoza.
