Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won his 60th professional bout in the Super-fight that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he won the World Boxing Association (WBA) World Welterweight Title from Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse in a thrilling bout where he scored the knockout victory in the seventh round after dropping Matthysse three times.

The fight was promoted by Manny Pacquiao (MP) Promotions and Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions while being streamed via ESPN+.  It was a thrilling bout that saw Pacman look like his old self as he won the coveted special super belt that was made for the fight, which is only made for the best and most historic matchups – which is exactly what this fight shaped up to be.

Matthysse was unfortunately never really in the fight from the start, as he was not able to find the distance on Pacquiao, who was using his great footwork to dart in and out on the Argentinian who could not land very many of his vaunted knockout right hand punches flush.

Pacquiao was really frustrating Matthysse as the fight went on, as Matthysse looked very trigger shy and like he did not want to really be in the ring with the legendary fighter at times.  Pacquiao scored two knockdowns with his uppercut – one of the them in the seventh round that ended the fight in emphatic fashion.

With the victory Pacman joins the WBA family, as he previously had not ever won a World Boxing Association title and with this fight not only became a world champion with the WBA, but also won the special belt made for the occasion to honor one of the very special fights of the year.
