Filipino Joepher Montaño won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian welterweight crown over China’s Baishanbo Nasiyiwula this weekend at the FCC Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A big arena witnessed the continental title fight of the pioneer organization, which went to the hands of the Filipino with a majority decision in an exciting fight from start to finish.

Nasiyiwula was coming back after almost three years of inactivity and met a tough opponent who did not allow him to come back the way he wanted. The Filipino showed his strength and heart to win by a close margin and take the belt.

The event was a success and WBA Asia reported that the streaming could be seen in China with a peak of 3 million viewers, a great evidence of how boxing continues to expand in the continent.

Montaño now has a record of 14 wins, 5 losses, 2 draws and 12 knockouts, while Nasiyiwula has a record of 17 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 7 knockouts.
