The former World Boxing Association (WBA) interim world champion will make her professional farewell fight on May 19 in a bout against Patricia Martín at the Grand Madrid Casino Torrelodones, in the Spanish capital.

The “Queen”, as she is nicknamed, will say goodbye in an 8-round bout. Gutierrez was champion of the pioneer body at lightweight during 2019 and put her flag high in the world arena.

She faced Katie Taylor in 2020 and lost by decision, in what meant the most relevant fight of her career and in which she did well despite the defeat.

Gutiérrez is not only noted for her role as a boxer but also for her political work in defense of women’s rights and the underprivileged. She has raised awareness about gender abuse and has been a vocal advocate for equality.

On May 19, a great representative of our sport will say goodbye and the WBA thanks her for all she has done in and out of the ring.

Melikuziev vindicates himself and continues on the rise.
