It’s an all-British showdown this Saturday night at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, where Pat McCormack will put his WBA Intercontinental welterweight title on the line against fellow countryman Robbie Davies Jr.

At 29 years old, McCormack has logged just 30 professional rounds—only a fraction of the experience Davies Jr. brings to the ring. But don’t let that fool you. The Sunderland native, a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, has made a seamless transition to the pro ranks since debuting in 2022. Ranked No. 11 in the WBA’s welterweight standings, McCormack is coming off a decision win over Argentina’s Williams Herrera in this very arena.

In the opposite corner, Davies Jr. is a battle-tested veteran with a deep résumé. The Liverpool native is fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Javier Fortuna on November 1, 2024, bouncing back from a decision loss to Sergey Lipinets. With a career full of high-level opposition, Davies Jr. poses the toughest test yet for the rising Olympian.

McCormack enters the ring with an unblemished 6-0 record, four of those wins coming by knockout. Davies Jr., on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience with a 24-5 record and 15 knockouts to his name. It’s youth versus experience, finesse versus grit—expect fireworks in Manchester.
