Maribel Ramirez defends her WBA belts against Daniela Asenjo in Chile

Finally the World Boxing Association super flyweight champion, the Mexican Maribel “Pantera” Ramirez, will have the opportunity to return to the ring to defend her title. On this occasion, she will face the local Daniela “La Leona” Asenjo on April 9 at the Gran Arena Monticello in the city of San Francisco de Mostazal, Chile.

Maribel managed to conquer the WBA title in May 2018 in Peru against Linda Leca. She made a single defense against the Japanese Aniya Seki in Switzerland, being that one of the most important victories for the Mexican boxer.

In January 2021, she was about to step into the ring in the land where she was crowned champion, but against the Panamanian Yaditza Perez. Due to the restrictions adopted by Peru to contain the advance of the pandemic, the fight was cancelled. “La Pantera” kept training waiting for a new possibility.

Her current opponent, Asenjo, has been WBA FEDELATIN super flyweight WBA champion since September 2018 when she defeated Carlota Santos by technical knockout in the third round.” ‘La Leona’ will arrive as a great challenge for the Aztec fighter, promising an explosive show.

The champion has a record of 13 wins with 3 knockouts, 9 losses and 2 draws. While the challenger, ranked number 9 in the WBA 115 lbs. ranking, will be presented with 11 wins, 2 of which she has finished before the limit, 3 defeats and 2 draws.
