Friday night at Ce.De.M. N° 2 in Caseros, Buenos Aires, Argentina, WBA World interim female featherweight champion Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuña (44-6-1, 18 KOs), from Formosa, Argentina, retained her title with a unanimous decision victory over Brenda “La Pumita” Carbajal (11-3, 8 KOs), from San Salvador de Jujuy, Jujuy, Argentina, after 10 rounds of action.

The final scores were 99-91 (Edgardo Codutti), 100-90½ (Hector Gabriel Tavella), and 98-92 (Jorge Luciano Gorini).

Acuña turns 40 next month and based on her performance she shows no signs of slowing down.

“La Tigressa” dominated the fight by controlling the distance and relying on her experience to earn the victory.

Carbajal was reluctant to let her hands go but had her moments in the middle rounds, but she missed more often than she caught her elusive target.

Acuña is a legendary female boxer in Latin America. She was the first woman to obtain a professional license to fight in the history of Argentine boxing and has not lost a fight since 2012.

It was another fine victory for Acuña who said after the bout, “I’m not afraid of any opponent they put in front of me.”
