WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KOs) scored a fifth round destruction of mandatory challenger Alex Leapai (30-5-3, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at the Koenig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. Klitschko set the tone by dropping Leapai with a jab in round one. The fight was all one-way traffic with Klitschko pummeling Leapai, who was a sitting duck on the outside and unable to effectively get inside. Wlad finally dropped Leapai twice in round five to end it. Time was 2:05. Klitschko outlanded Leapai 147-10 in the bout, with 10 being generous. It was Klitschko’s sixteenth consecutive successful defense.
