Otabek Kholmatov gave another demonstration of his power and scored a devastating fifth-chapter technical knockout win over Thomas Patrick Ward in a World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight eliminator last Saturday in Newcastle.

The Uzbek had an interesting challenge against Patrick Ward, an undefeated fighter with a good record, but he dominated him with great ease to force the fighter’s corner to throw in the towel in the fifth round.

The 24-year-old’s power and aggression were evident from the first round and he was able to knock the Brit down in that first round, in addition to other knockdowns in rounds 4 and 5.

Kholmatov is a threat at 126 pounds and has proven it as time goes on. This was a very important fight for him because it was an eliminator, but also because of the opponent he defeated and the way he did it.

His undefeated record remains after 11 fights, 10 of them won by knockout. Patrick Ward, on the other hand, left his record at 33 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 5 knockouts.
