In a night of high drama, Kenshiro Teraji cemented his place among boxing’s elite by capturing the WBA light flyweight world title with a stunning 12th-round TKO over Seigo Yuri Akui. The battle, held at the legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final bell.

Trailing on two of the three scorecards heading into the final round, Teraji unleashed a ferocious barrage that forced the referee to step in at 1:31 of the 12th round. With the win, the Japanese superstar improved his record to 25-1 with 16 knockouts, adding the WBA title to his existing WBC championship.

This bout marked only the third unification fight between Japanese fighters in history—the first dating back to 2012 when Akira Yaegashi faced Kazuto Ioka. From the sixth round onward, the fight evolved into a breathtaking exchange of skill and power, with both men refusing to take a step back.

With this victory, Teraji not only solidifies his status as one of Japan’s greatest boxers but also opens the door to even bigger opportunities on the global stage.
