Many boxing specialists have underestimated the quality of George Kambosos Jr. who is the undisputed lightweight champion. The Australian has done only one thing in his career and that is winning, which has taken him to the top in a quiet way.

The Greek-born fighter has always been there, overcoming tests and making it clear that all the opportunities he has earned what he has through hard work and quality.

He has been climbing the ladder, won regional titles, measured himself against opponents many thought he couldn’t beat and has shut mouths at every turn.

The 28-year-old fighter has beaten boxers like Mickey Bey and Lee Selby, quality opponents and in fights in which he was underdog. In fact, Kambosos had to fight his way to split decisions in those fights to earn the right to challenge Teofimo Lopez in 2021.

Despite his undefeated record, Kambosos did not have much of a chance according to the betting odds, but he put on another great showing and defeated Lopez to take the belts and 135-pound supremacy on November 27 in New York.

There is no doubt that Kambosos is the most outstanding fighter in the division and although he comes from a tough fight, he decided to take another one equally or even tougher than the previous one against Devin Haney, an opponent with good technique, a lot of speed, height and an excellent jab.

The reward for the champion is that the fight will be in Melbourne in front of his people and although he is already at the top, glory is only achieved by beating the best. That is why Kambosos takes the best challenges and wants to overcome another one of those.
