The Congolese Youri Kalenga dodged his first opponent of the World Boxing Association cruiserweight 200-lbs interim title. Last Saturday, he defeated Canadian Denton Daley by TKO.

Kalenga defeated Daley by TKO 12 in his yard, and after the fight he told the media “I have worked very hard for this, and I am sending a clear message that I go for Lebedev”, said in reference to the absolute champion of the division.

The African also said to be satisfied and happy for the result before Daley, and promised to fight the Russian also will win by KO.

Although to TKO Daley took him longer than expected, because he wanted to finish him at the early stages of the fight, he recognized that: “He is strong, and I needed all my resources to knock him out”.

Kalenga cut Daley, in the eighth round, in what the Canadian says was a headbutt. Then in the ninth round Kalenga cornered his opponent, and forced him to touch the canvas and receive protection count.

However, it was not until the last round that the Congo native, knocked down Daley a couple of times, including the last one product of a few punches to the jaw.
