Naoya Inoue announced that he will make the jump to the super bantamweight division in his next fight and, therefore, will vacate his 118-pound belts, the division in which he was undisputed champion.

At a press conference held in Yokohama, Japan, the Japanese star told the press that he will be looking for new challenges in his career after having dominated the 118-pound division.

With the World Boxing Association (WBA) belt and the IBF, WBO and WBC, the 29-year-old Japanese boxing star stressed that he is in the process of adapting to his new weight and that he is already looking for the best opponents in the category to face them.

The boxing world is anxious to see what Inoue, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today, can offer at this new weight. It will add a great fighter to a weight class that has a lot of talent at the moment.

On the other hand, the WBA Championships Committee will review the situation at bantamweight and make a decision on who will challenge for the currently vacant crown.
