Indonesian Chris John celebrates a new birthday and his World Boxing Association family whises him a happy birthday to a role model boxer and citizen.

“El Dragón” was born in 1979 with the name Yohannes Christian John.

He made his debut in professional boxing in 1997, and became the WBA featherweight champion, on September 26, 2003 defeating by split decision against Colombian Oscar León, in a fight held in Bali, Indonesia.

He made 18 successful defenses before losing against Simpiwe Vetyeka on December 6, 2012 in Australia.

In that moment John the longest championship tenant announced his retirement with record 48-1-3, 22 KO´s.
