WBA vice president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, on his trip to Monaco to supervise Golovkin-Murray fight, had the opportunity to spend some time with Louis and Michel Acaries brothers, former boxer and promoter respectively.

Michel started managing his brother boxing career while driving a taxi in order to keep their expenses. Louis debuted in 1972 and became France welterweight and super welterweight champion, but in 1987 could not win the International Boxing Federation title of the losing against Carlos Santos.

“Acaries brothers are teachers and examples to follow for a boxing manager. They have fallen but they always rise. They managed a historic moment of French boxing,” said Gilberto Jesus Mendoza.

Michel started his life as a promoter in 1987 when he created the company AB Stars and AMI Productions. Among the great fights promoted are the WBA – IBF cruiserweight title fight between Evander Holyfield and Ossie Ocasio. In addition to the WBA flyweight fight between Lorenzo Parra and Brahim Asloum at the Palais des Sports in Paris, France.

“Undoubtedly, they will be part of the family WBA forever,” Mendoza said.
