The first day of the World Boxing Association (WBA) KO Drugs at the Casino Buenos Aires, Argentina, featured great fights, good action and the presence of prestigious guests.

An evening of four great fights was highlighted by the technical decision victory of Carlos Cañizales against Daniel Matellón in a fight full of blood due to cuts on both eyebrows of the Venezuelan after different headbutts.

“CCC” took cards of 77-73, 77-73 and 76-74 after a two-point deduction to the Cuban in different actions during a fight that had to end in the eighth round due to the depth of Cañizales’ injuries.

Thus, the 30-year-old fighter becomes the mandatory challenger of the category, whose current champion is the Japanese Kenshiro Teraji.

The event also featured the victory of Francisco Veron by split decision against Timur Kerefov to win the Continental Americas middleweight crown of the pioneer organization in a great performance.

Colombian Olga Julio and Argentine Sol Cudos fight to a 10 round draw for the Fedelatin flyweight title, while local Gabriel Diaz defeated American Robert Daniels Jr. by technical knockout in five rounds.

The event was attended by Argentine boxing personalities such as Marcela Acuña and great former fighters, while the renowned Cuban trainer Ismael Salas witnessed the fights. This Saturday will take place the second KO Drugs night at the same venue, with the WBA super bantamweight world title fight between Mayerlin Rivas and Nazarena Romero.
