First day of the WBA KO Drugs Festival was a success

Last night the first boxing date of the 38th edition of the World Boxing Association KO Drugs Festival took place. Four attractive bouts made up the event at the Casino de Buenos Aires.

Hugs, smiles, chats of memories with music accompanying the arrivals. The atmosphere was built like a filmic picture of a massive reunion of friends who had not seen each other for a long time.

Journalists, authorities, trainers, boxers, promoters and fans, united in the same space by the thread of passion for boxing. All commenting on the presentations in the ring, encouraging and overshadowing the low temperatures of the Buenos Aires winter with warm applause for the protagonists.

Although the feature fight was Mirco Cuello Cuello, a young Olympian who won the vacant WBA international featherweight belt after defeating Venezuelan Leonardo Padilla by technical knockout in the second round, each fight had its own special detail of enjoyment for the audience in attendance who warmed up the moment.

The other vibrant attraction was the super flyweight fight. The Argentine Tobias Reyes overpowered his compatriot Sebastian Castillo and by round two the story was over in another technical finish before the limit; Reyes shared tears of happiness with the audience when he was taped with the vacant WBA international belt along with the local belt.

And not to be outdone, the North American Jarell Miller won by unanimous decision after ten roller coaster rounds against local Ariel Bracamonte. These two heavyweight fighters gave their best in the battle.

Finally, in the same division, the Kazakh Ivan Dychko, was convincing from start to finish in the ten rounds agreed against Kevin Espindola. Thus, Dychko, won by unanimous decision.

Among the audience, there were many recognized figures of the boxing world, such as former champions Juan “Látigo” Coggi, Marcos “Chino” Maidana, Juan “Baby Bull” Díaz, Marcelo “Toro” Dominguez and even John David Jackson. The match was more than complete. And the spirit of KO Drugs was present: the union for the same passion together with the support for the new generations.
