Figueroa stops Parejo for WBA Interim Title

Brandon Figueroa stopped Yonfrez Parejo via TKO in the eighth round when Parejo’s corner decided that their man had had enough, not coming out for the ninth round. With the victory Brandon Figueroa captured the Super Bantamweight Interim Title of the WBA.

The bout was broadcast live via Premier Boxing Champions at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California as support bout to Danny Garcia vs Adrian Granados. Figueroa had promised before the fight that he would make a name for himself and put on a good show for the fans.

The fight was not a disappointment, as the young blue-chip prospect threw punches in bunches, overwhelming Parejo throughout the entire bout while effectively cutting off the ring and forcing him to fight an inside, bruising bout.

Figueroa, a native of Welasco Texas, now has a record of 19 wins, no losses, and 14 knockouts. Meanwhile, Parejo now has a record of 22 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, and 11 knockouts.
