Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will defend his super middleweight belts on Saturday vs. British John Ryder at home. The Akron Stadium, in Zapopan, Jalisco, will be the venue for this bout that will see the Mexican idol defending his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship and the WBC, WBO and IBF belts.

Alvarez achieved something important and to be able to return as champion to the state where he was born. People will have the opportunity to see Canelo at his best in an important defense at this point in his career.

The 32-year-old fighter lost a year ago to Dmitry Bivol at light heavyweight and then underwent surgery to repair an injury to one of his hands. He returned to the ring in September for his third fight against Gennady Golovkin, whom he defeated by decision, and will now face Ryder in a new defense.

“Canelo has the responsibility to put on a good show for his fans, to prove that he is still one of the best pound-for-pound fighters and that he is the face of boxing. On the other hand, it will be great news for him to see the condition of his hand and to know that he is one hundred percent ready to face any fight.

Ryder is a ring warrior who has been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. The 34-year-old Englishman is a veteran who has faced good opponents and has always put up good fights. He is highly motivated and has trained thoroughly for this great challenge.

The Londoner comes in on a four-fight winning streak, including one against Daniel Jacobs, and has not lost since 2019, so his confidence is very high.

Alvarez has 58 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws and 39 knockouts. Ryder has 32 wins, 5 setbacks and 18 defined before the limit.
