Mexican Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada was formally awarded with the WBA 115 lbs. Super Championship belt by the president of the Sonora Boxing Commission, Enrique Peñato.

It is worth mentioning that the Mexican won this belt after defeating Nicaraguan Roman “Chocolatito” González by split decision in a rematch on March 13th in Texas.

The ceremony took place during a star-studded tribute presented by promoter Carlos Acosta and his company MP Boxing Promotions.

When “El Gallo” received his belt, he was very emotional and said: “I want to thank Mr. Gilberto Mendoza for this great belt and also ‘Chocolate’, thank you very much for the support”.

Estrada and Gonzalez are scheduled to fulfill their trilogy next September or October, in one of the most epic fights in recent years.
