Filipino Garen Diagan won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian minimum belt with a split decision victory over local Huu Toan Lee at the Saigon Sports Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

It was a memorable day with three WBA Asia regional championships in a country where boxing has been growing strongly in recent years. Diagan won a close victory as a visitor to keep a very important belt for his career and have a great progress as a fighter.

Meanwhile, Dinh Hoang Truong made the first defense of his Asian super middleweight belt by defeating Dae Hyun Baek in a dramatic fight and overcoming this great test to remain undefeated and with the belt in his possession.

In the other title fight at stake, Ngoc Hai Nguyen won the WBA Asian super lightweight belt by defeating Thai veteran Campee Phayom. Hai Nguyen showed what he is made of by defeating a very experienced opponent at home and responding in front of his home crowd.

WBA Asia keeps its hard work to reach out to as many countries in the continent as possible to keep boxing growing and providing opportunities to the talents of the region.
