Daniel Jacobs was selected by the World Boxing Association as the boxer of the month, announced the ratings committee when broadcast August monthly ratings.

Jacobs won the WBA middleweight 160 lbs interim belt when he defeated b Jarrod Fletcher by TKO 5 in New York on August 9.

On the other hand, the honorable mention was granted to the American Jessie Vargas who defended his super lightweight 140 lbs title against Anton Novikov amd defeated him on the score on August 2, 2014 in Las Vegas.

During the month of August the WBA sanctioned five world title fights.
