The Cuban Boxing Federation, chaired by Alberto Puig, reached an agreement with the Golden Ring company so that boxers from the island will be represented by this company in order to perform professional bouts next May in Mexico.  In this agreement it is expected that the best Domadores de Cuba boxers will perform 6-round bouts in at least 4 events in this 2022. 

“Three and a half years ago a serious analysis started that has resulted in the agreement approved and welcomed by the country’s sports management and the Cuban Boxing Federation with Golden Ring Promotions, for the representation of Cuba in its entry into professional boxing,” Puig said and added: “The continuous sporting and competitive preparation of Cuban boxers to represent and put the name of our country’s boxing in all competitions where it takes part and the economic benefit it represents for boxers, coaching staff, and medical triad who work with the team are the main objectives”.

For his part, Gerardo Saldivar, president of Golden Ring, thanked the Cuban Boxing Federation for their confidence and said: “We have been working for some time on an analysis to integrate Cuban boxers to professional boxing in a harmonic and progressive way. Our intention is to place them in the rankings of the different boxing organizations”.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has always seen with good eyes that boxers who make a living in Olympic boxing can also go to professional boxing as part of its plan called “one boxing”.
