The World Boxing Association family is on holiday today for the celebration of a new birthday anniversary of our President, Gilberto Mendoza, and we join the celebration and send him our best wishes of health, success and happiness.

He is known for his conciliatory speech, his practice of loyalty and friendship values, for promoting friendship among boxing organizations, Mendoza is the living example of constant work for the welfare and growth of boxing in all its fields.

Mendoza was born on March 30, 1943, in Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela. From a very young age he was linked to sports, he practiced football and amateur boxer; he defended the colors of his home town.

Since 1982, he leads the WBA, and ever since then, Mendoza has worked for professional boxing improvements. One of his major accomplishments has been the creation of the KO Drugs program that grew to become a global campaign.
Supporter of regional bodies development and WBA internationals official as well as the medical staff professional growth through yearly seminars.
