Charly Suarez defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian super featherweight belt for the first time by defeating Mark John Yap this weekend by unanimous decision at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City, Philippines.

The champion had a good performance and got scorecards of 120-108, 120-108 and 118-110, with which he continues his existing step in professional boxing.

Suarez won the title in March by defeating Tomjune Mangubat and although he returned to the ring in June, he did not put his belt on the line in that bout in which he defeated Junny Salogaol.

Now he defeated a veteran of a thousand battles like Yap and ratified himself as Asian 130-pound monarch. In the same event the Australian of Swedish descent, Linn Sandstrom, defeated the Thai Khwunchit Khunya by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBA Asian super flyweight belt.
