Nazarena “Capricho” Romero will seek to defend her FEDELATIN super bantamweight crown of the World Boxing Association this Saturday at the Quinto Centenario Hotel in the province of Cordoba, Argentina against her compatriot, already known, Julieta Cardozo.

She is sure that she can be the best at 122 pounds and feels ready for the big challenges. But before, making this new defense, she adds a few more hours in the ring that will keep her active. Without underestimating her opponent, since Cardozo is an old acquaintance for Romero: they fought for the WBA 122 lbs. interim title on December 5, 2020 and Romero won by technical knockout in the second round.

After that Nazarena became a mom and the inactivity led her to lose her interim world crown. However, on November 19, 2022, Romero traveled to Montevideo, Uruguay, to face local Paola Ibarra for the FEDELATIN super bantamweight title and won it with an explosive first round technical knockout. Now she will be looking to retain it in what will be her first defense and then try to make it a clash against the 122 WBA world champion Mayerlin Rivas. Romero is ranked #1 in the WBA world rankings, making her the mandatory challenger for the crown.

“La Capricho” Romero has an undefeated professional record of 12 fights, half of them before the final bell. On the other hand, Cardozo will come into Saturday night’s bout with 12 wins, 7 losses and a great thirst for revenge.
