Venezuelan Carlos “CCC” Cañizales returned to his winning ways last Friday at the Foro Viena in Mexico City. The same place where 5 months ago he lost his undefeated, and more importantly, his World Boxing Association (WBA) World Light Flyweight title, after being knocked out by the Aztec Esteban Bermudez.

That’s why the first thing he asked for after defeating local German Valenzuela and winning the WBA-Fedecaribe title was a rematch against his tormentor: “I want a rematch with Esteban Bermudez as soon as possible. I want it right here in Mexico”, said “Triple C”.

Cañizales considers that the key to his victory was that he traveled three weeks in advance to the Mexican capital, because he was able to adapt to the altitude even though in some parts of the fight he was drowned. Therefore, he states that for a possible rematch his preparation will be much more rigorous so that this factor does not take its toll on him.

Despite the Venezuelan’s desire for a rematch, Bermudez has a mandatory fight with the WBA 108 lbs. Super Champion, the Japanese Hiroto Kyoguchi.
