The Mexican star Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez and his rival next Saturday, Rocky Fielding, met this Thursday at the final press conference held at Madison Square Garden; the scene where the fight will take place.

The Jalisco man climbs into the ring as a favorite to hang his third crown on his head against a man in Fielding who owns physical advantages that he needs to use if he wants to retain the 168-pound title of the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Canelo, however, took the microphone and asked that no one belittle the current champion: “Many do not give Fielding the credit he deserves. I give it to him and therefore I prepared as always. I like challenges and we are ready for this,” he claimed.

Without a doubt, Alvarez is going through the best moment of his career after beating Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in his last fight. So his interest is to continue making his legacy great.

“I know there will be danger in the fight. We are prepared and in great condition,” added the new Mexican boxing icon.

For his part Fielding, the champion, mentioned that it is a pleasure to fight with Canelo on a stage like Madison Square Garden, where he had been before as an amateur but never as a protagonist.

“I went to Germany and won the world title when nobody gave me a chance. It’s the same here, but I’ve prepared well and I believe in myself,” he said.

“Canelo is a great fighter but we want to take this opportunity,” the Briton concluded.

Rocky will have the opportunity to surprise the world but if he does not succeed Saul Alvarez it would be the tenth Mexican boxer to win three titles in three different divisions and the fifth fighter in the history of the WBA to achieve that feat.
