Saul Alvarez is living the best moment of his career and has just taken on a very complicated challenge against Dmitry Bivol for the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title. The Mexican has been achieving goals and now he will be looking for one more on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Canelo proved to be an exceptional planner once he set his sights on the undisputed super middleweight championship in 2020. He first faced Callum Smith on December 19 of that year to take the WBA crown from him and clinch the vacant WBC crown with a technical knockout.

His next stop was a bout against Avni Yildirim in which he defended both of his belts with an uncomplicated victory in February 2021. After that fight, he moved forward to his big showdown against Billy Joe Saunders, the WBA champion, who he defeated by TKO to win the third crown in May last year.

There was only one belt left to go when fought in November against Caleb Plant, the IBF champion. Alvarez made a fight in which he went from strength to strength and managed to decipher a complicated opponent to knock him out in dramatic fashion in the 11th round of the fight.

Having achieved his goal, he decided to move up to the next division for another very difficult challenge against Bivol. Canelo is a man of challenges and his decisions continue to prove it.
