Dmitry Bivol was named Boxer of the Month by the World Boxing Association (WBA) championships committee thanks to his defense of the light heavyweight crown against Saul Alvarez last May 7, in Las Vegas. 

The 175-pound champion made clear the reason why he has reigned for so long in the category and dominated Alvarez despite having the odds against him in a great boxing exhibition at the T-Mobile Arena.

Bivol used his combinations, counter-punching and defense to nullify his challenger and earn the eleventh defense since he has owned the pioneering body’s belt. 

In addition to the individual awards for the month of May, the pioneer body also published its ranking on its official website.
