“The Mexican Monster” has stormed to the top of a new division. In a devastating display of power, David Benavidez captured the WBA cruiserweight super title with a sixth-round knockout over Gilberto Ramírez on Saturday night, igniting a roaring crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The bout opened with Ramírez attempting to assert his natural size advantage, working behind his southpaw stance and steady jab to keep the challenger at bay. But Benavídez quickly proved that his punching power had carried up intact to the 200-pound division. By the fourth round, he began closing the distance, unleashing blistering combinations that started to break down Ramírez’s guard. For the first time in his cruiserweight run, “Zurdo” appeared outmatched in speed.

The end came in the sixth. Benavídez overwhelmed Ramírez with a relentless barrage, forcing the champion to drop to a knee. With no meaningful response from the Mexican veteran and the punishment mounting, the referee stepped in to stop the contest, sending the Las Vegas crowd into a frenzy.

With the victory, Benavídez secures a world title in a second weight class and establishes himself as a major presence in the cruiserweight division. Meanwhile, Ramírez suffers a significant setback in his bid to build a historic reign for Mexico at 200 pounds.
