Erik Bazinyan retained his North American Boxing Association (NABA) World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight belt with a majority decision victory over Alantez Fox on Thursday night at the Casino de Montreal.

The Armenian-born, Canadian citizen Bazinyan earned scorecards of 98-92, 98-92 and 95-95 to make the first defense of his continental belt.

Bazinyan did not have an easy opponent in front of him and had to deal with a very experienced fighter who outweighed him in height, but he gradually adapted to attack him and won most of the rounds.

Fox, proved, as always, his good technique in the ring, he was an uncomfortable fighter for the champion but it was not enough to win the fight.

The 27-year-old champion is undefeated in 29 fights, 21 of them won before the limit. Fox, meanwhile, dropped his record to 28 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 13 knockouts.
