Alycia Baumgardner will face Elhem Mekhaled for the World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight belt this Saturday at Madison Square Garden, New York, where Erika Cruz will face Amanda Serrano as the main event.

The American and the Frenchwoman will fight for the 130-pound belt, which is currently vacant because Hyun Mi Choi has been placed as inactive champion due to an injury that keeps her away from the ring.

Baumgardner owns the IBF, WBC and WBO belts, so she has been planning to fight for the WBA belt for the past few months and now she has gotten the opportunity. She has achieved her success through hard work and has beaten several of the best, most notably Terri Harper and Mikaela Mayer.

Mekhaled is a fighter to watch out for who has a good record and is coming off a great fight against Delfine Persoon in May of last year. Now she will have the opportunity to become undisputed champion and wants to surprise the world.

The American has a record of 13 wins, 1 loss and 7 wins before the limit, while the European has a record of 15 wins, 1 loss and 3 knockouts.
