Britain’s Zelfa Barrett will face American Jason Sanchez for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental super featherweight title on April 22 at the Cardiff International Arena in Wales.

Barrett and Sanchez face a very important challenge for their careers as they have the opportunity to retain a regional title that will allow them to move up and get better opportunities in the near future.

Barrett is coming off a tough loss to Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov on November 5. On that occasion he lost by technical knockout to the Tajik in an IBF world title fight. This fight will be extremely important for him as he must now start a new process until he gets a new opportunity.

For his part, Sanchez has made almost his entire career in the United States and now he will be in the United Kingdom for the first time with the intention of pulling off an upset that will help him advance his career. The Albuquerque native has faced several good caliber opponents and that is his main calling card to face this challenge. 

Barrett has 28 wins, 2 losses and 16 knockouts, while Sanchez has 16 wins, 3 losses and 9 knockouts.
