Michell Banquez retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin bantamweight crown after defeating Kevin Muñoz by unanimous decision this weekend in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Venezuelan made the first defense of his belt with scores of 96-94 by the three judges in a very close and entertaining fight held in the capital of the South American country.

The Venezuelan is in a new stage of his career after a series of defeats in the United States. This was his second consecutive fight in Argentina, where he has found a new lease of life and has become a regional champion.

Banquez made a smart fight, knew how to counter an aggressive and motivated Muñoz, and took a new victory in a fight that was not easy at all.

Banquez’s record is 22 wins, 4 losses and 5 knockouts, while Munoz left his record at 16 wins, 3 setbacks and 6 knockouts.
