Castaño: a fighter true to his style

Brian Castaño’s boxing has no surprises, but that doesn’t mean it’s not effective. The Argentine has been consistent with his style since his beginnings and that has led him to become world champion and remain undefeated despite the big fights he has been involved in.

The WBO champion has a big commitment this Saturday in Carson, California, where he will face Jermell Charlo (WBA, IBF and WBC champion) in a rematch. Last year he got a draw after one of the best fights of the year and put Charlo in trouble but it was not enough to win.

This time, the Buenos Aires native intends to impose his style on the ring to overwhelm his opponent to achieve his dream of winning all the crowns in the 154 lbs. division.

Everyone knows what Castaño is going for. The 32-year-old fighter goes forward, throws a large volume of punches, tries to counter his opponent’s attacks and undermine him until he can’t take it anymore.

Of course, that kind of boxing can be done by few fighters in the world. It takes enviable physical endurance, monumental stamina, a good jaw and great combinations to impose that kind of boxing, especially against opponents like Charlo.

Castaño has all those characteristics and that is why he has always been good at it. His intention is to be even more intense than he has been during his career and overwhelm Charlo until he defeats him.

His plan is risky and predictable but not for that reason ineffective. Castaño wants to put the American through hell once again, but now he wants to go out with his hand up.
