Eleven days lasted the third edition of the South American Youth Games. With the participation of 15 country members of ODESUR, boxing had a total of 36 medals among 8 nations of the region. When the flame was extinguished at dusk on Sunday in Rosario, province of Santa Fe, Argentina, the emotion for the final message was latent: more peace, more sport, more health and more life. 

A total of 2,500 athletes participated in the multisport event. As far as the sport of fists is concerned, the final medal tally showed Venezuela at the top of the table with 4 gold medals, half of them women and the others men, 1 silver and 2 bronze. In second place was Ecuador with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals and in third place was Argentina with 2 gold medals in the women’s division, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Next was Brazil, leader of the general table of the competition, followed by Colombia, Panama, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. 

At the closing ceremony, held next to the picturesque Lake Independence Park in Rosario, the president of the South American Sports Organization (Odesur), Camilo Pérez López Moreira, expressed his joy for the excellent development of the event and the participation of both the volunteers and the public who accompanied the girls. To conclude, he invited us to accompany the next South American Games 2022 to be held in the first half of October in Asuncion, Paraguay, in the same way. 

The World Boxing Association congratulates and recognizes all the young athletes who have left South American boxing at the top.
