The World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight Super Champion, Cuban Yordenis Ugás, held a public training session during the pre fight promotion of his unification bout against Errol Spence Jr. next April 16 at the AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas.

The West Indian will face the IBF champion in a highly anticipated fight and on Wednesday he held his training session with the media from the Salas Boxing Academy, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We’ve had a great training camp here in Las Vegas with Ismael Salas. We always make sure the hard work pays off. We’re going to bring our best to the ring,” said the 35-year-old fighter.

Ugas comes from the most important victory of his career against legend Manny Pacquiao, a triumph that has given another dimension to his career and confirmed him as the champion of the pioneering organization.

The fight against Pacquiao was a great night for me. After that fight, my life changed even more. But I have always remained humble. I showed everyone who the WBA champion is. I have my eye on continuing to make history,” he said.

For the specialized press, Ugas is not the favorite as he faces one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of today, a situation that does not seem to be a problem for the Cuban, who is used to fighting like this throughout his career.

“Being an underdog means nothing to me. I was the underdog against Pacquiao and now again against Spence. I’ve always been the underdog and it doesn’t faze me,” he said in a calm tone.

Ugas works alongside Ismael Salas, one of the best trainers today and is entering the final part of his preparation. He hopes to take another huge step in his career on April 16.
