On Saturday, March 19, the sixth Gilberto Mendoza Boxing Festival will take place in Turmero, Venezuela. Aragua is the state where the president emeritus of the World Boxing Association (WBA) launched great life projects, will serve to honor his memory in the month that marks six years since his departure.

There will be plenty of boxing activity, with professional bouts in with an impressive amount of young talent on an amateur card in the afternoon. 

The main event of the professional boxing will feature Leonardo Sanchez and Eloy Rada, two welterweight fighters who will fight for the 10-round national title. On the other hand, Kelvinyer Salazar will face Omar Echenique in a super lightweight duel in the eight-round co-main event. 

There will be a total of nine bouts, including a female presence with Yenireth Altuve as the main protagonist. 

The amateur card will feature boxers representing Guárico, Aragua, Distrito Capital and Miranda. Children of all categories will have the opportunity to show themselves in an event that has already become a tradition in Venezuela.

The event will be organized by the company Morón Box in alliance with Probellum. The WBA appreciates the effort to keep alive the flame of boxing in this country and commemorate Gilberto Mendoza.
