Cuban David Morrell returned to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight title with a four round technical knockout over a more experienced opponent like Alantez Fox on Saturday night in Armory, Minnesota.

The West Indian southpaw had a great night in the main event of the Premier Boxing Champions show and demolished the American after deploying his tools and power on him.

It was another important victory for the monarch, who has been improving in every fight and surprises the boxing fans more and more. His arrival in the professional sport was not as mediatic as other of his fellow countrymen but little by little he has been rising and proving why he is there.

His achievements in amateur boxing were not as showy. His gold medal at the 2016 St. Petersburg World Youth Championships and a national title the following year stand out, but Morrell’s talent allowed him to make it to the pro ranks at a young age, which is an advantage since he has achieved quite a bit at just 23 years old.

The Cuban will be something to talk about in 2022 and is looking to take on the big names in the division. Morrell is no longer a stranger and his name should be heard when talking about the top 168-pounders in the world.
