Irish Katie Taylor won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Women’s Boxer of the Month award after defending her WBA lightweight championship for the 11th time in her career against Jennifer Han.

The WBA released its women’s rankings for the month and the award for the most outstanding fighter of that period. Taylor stepped into the ring in Leeds, England and dominated her American opponent on September 4 to retain her black and gold crown, in addition to the WBO, WBC and IBF versions.

Taylor has been the longest reigning champion in the division in recent times and has achieved everything at the professional level. Her aim is on other great opponents for the near future in the intention of continuing to write her history.

The WBA congratulates the Irishwoman for this new recognition and is proud to have a champion like Katie.
