Cecilia Braekhus, boxing’s “First Lady”, will return to the ring on Saturday to defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight title and all the belts she owns from the world’s top organizations against the tough challenger Jessica McCaskill in Tulsa, Oklahoma City.

The bout for the 147-pound title has been eagerly awaited. The event will be held on the streets of the city, as part of Matchroom Boxing‘s innovative approach to the event.

Braekhus will have her first bout of the year. Her last defense was in November last year against Argentina’s Victoria Bustos. The Norwegian is living a great stage of her career with a new promotions company at the age of 38, and as the most important female fighter of a whole era.

Her American opponent is the WBA Super Lightweight Champion and has just moved up a division to a much more complicated challenge in pursuit of greatness. McCaskill has moved up divisions until reaching Welterweight and promises to be a tough competitor for Braekhus.

On Friday, at the weigh-in ceremony, they both have to mark the 147 pounds of the division to be able to fight for the black and gold belt.

Cecilia has a record of 36 wins, no losses and 9 KOs, while McCaskill has a balance of 8 wins, 2 losses and 3 KOs.
