Inoue-Donaire showdown was presented in Tokyo

The fight to define the one only champion in the bantamweight class by the World Boxing Association (WBA) between Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire already has a date and place. The confrontation, which will be the final of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS), will take place on November 7th at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The Tokyo Dome Hotel hosted the official press conference, in which the fight between Inoue, the Super Champion, and the regular Champion Donaire was presented. They both talked about what the fight means and what they expect from it, in what will be a great showdown of Asian fighters and two of the very best at the weight.

“When the tournament started, the fighter with whom I wanted to fight before anyone else was Nonito Donaire. Now, it is really wonderful to be able to fight him. I will have to defeat him to win the great Muhammad Ali Trophy and demonstrate my best form. From my time as an amateur boxer, Nonito Donaire was my idol and I studied his way of boxing, I understand that he is a great boxer of fame with a glorious boxing career,” said the Japanese native.

“Inoue is one of the best in the world. Seeing where my career was and what people say about where I am now and returning to the division inspires and motivates me, but above all, it excites me,” said the Philippine idol.

The match will define the division’s only champion in the WBA and will be another sign that boxing is looking to face the best against the best.

Inoue is undefeated in 18 fights, 16 of them won by knockout, while the experienced “Filipino Flash” comes into the fight with 40 wins, 5 losses, and 26 knockouts.
