Filipino Jhack Tepora moved his record to 22-0 while scoring his 17th victory via knockout over Edivaldo Ortega.  The victory won Tepora the interim featherweight belt of the World Boxing Association (WBA), as he stopped Ortega in the ninth round of the scheduled twelve round fight.

The fight took place on the Pacquiao-Matthysse card in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and was promoted by Manny Pacquiao (MP) Promotions and Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions while being streamed via ESPN+.

Tepora got off to a good start in the very first round being the aggressor and hurting Ortega to the body early on.  The fight was closely contested in the coming rounds, with Ortega getting his jab pumping and being the aggressor but Tepora having the harder punch and slowly accumulating damage over the coming rounds on Ortega.

Tepora would score the stoppage victory to the delight of the crowd in the ninth round off of a nice uppercut splitting the guard and sending Ortega to the canvas.  Ortega was very game and came to fight, but he simply could not handle the power of the Filipino.
