IBF/WBO/IBO/WBA heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko (63-3, 53 KOs) scored a spectacular fifth round KO over previously unbeaten Kubrat Pulev (20-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the 02 Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Pulev came out aggressively and was dropped twice by Klitschko in round one. Klitschko dropped Pulev again in round three and knocked him out in round five. Time was 2:11. A brilliant performance by Klitschko against a highly regarded challenger.

It’s the 38-year-old Ukrainian champion’s 17th consecutive defense of the heavyweight crown. He hasn’t lost a fight in over ten years. Wlad will now head back to the United States to be with his girlfriend Hayden Panettiere, who is expecting their first child.

Pulev joked “Wladimir was lucky, next time I’ll win,” before he was taken to the hospital with a suspected broken nose and fractured cheekbone.

Heavyweight Shannon Briggs was at ringside, but was intercepted by security when he tried to get into the ring after the fight.
