On Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2014, World Boxing Association Vice-president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza gave the championship belt to the WBA welterweight champion Marcos “Chino” Maidana, en Argentina.

The event was held at Ezeiza International Airport in Argentina right before the champion got on the plane to travel to California, United States to continue his training preparation for this fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, on May 3 in Las Vegas.

“Chino” Maidana is the genuine representation of the boxer who works his future tenaciously and with big heart. He is a worthy representative our KO Drugs Program that was born in one KO Drugs Festival, said Mendoza after belting the champion.
