The Committee of Championships of the World Boxing Association ordered negotiations for the rematch bout between the super bantamweight interim champion Nehomar Cermeno and Oscar Escandon.

The first fight between Cermeno and Escandon for the interim title was staged in Panama, on 10 August of 2013.

According to the rules, the mandatory rematch fight should take place in a period of 120 days and that is the reason why the WBA ordered the negotiations to commence.

The fight contracts should be signed by January 15 2014.
